Priya Malik, who won gold for India at World Cadet Wrestling Championship in Hungary on Sunday, becoming the first Indian athlete to clinch a gold in World Wrestling Championship, has been trending on the microblogging site, Twitter, unfortunately not for the very right reasons.

Malik, who got the better of her Belarus rival Kseniya Patapovich 5-0, not at Tokyo Olympics but miles away from the Japanese capital – Budapest, Hungary, has made the nation proud once again.

But netizens including some big names in the Indian National Congress like Randeep Singh Surjewala and Alka Lamba, congratulated Priya Malik not for grabbing gold at World Cadet Wrestling Championship but Tokyo Olympics. This comes a day after India grabbed its first medal on the very first day of Olympics for India in Tokyo when Mirabai Chanu clinched a silver in the 49kg category.

Priya Malik has been a consistent gold medal winner in several tournaments including the 2019 edition of Khelo India in Pune after which she went on to clinch gold at the 17th School Games that were held in Delhi, the same year. Malik also won two more gold medals the following year at the National Cadet Championship in Patna and the National School Games.
