A major rift has taken place within the terror group TRF in Kashmir. Irfan Ahmed Sofi of Srinagar quits TRF saying it is working at the behest of Pak agencies. Says “we are not fighting Jihad to restore Article 370 but to fight for an Islamic rule.” TRF is a smokescreen used by the Pakistan based LeT and sometimes other Islamic supremacist outfits like Hizbul Mujahideen and Jaish-e-Mohammed.

The Resistance Force (TRF) has been involved in several attacks in the past. In one of its first attacks, a grenade attack on CRPF in the Lal Chowk area of Srinagar was executed in which two CRPF men and four civilians were injured. In April 2019 the group killed five Indian Army soldiers, including four special forces men (paras), near the Line of Control at the Keran sector in Kupwar. Also, it had killed three BJP nationalist workers in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district in September last year.
